Mounting foam in a bottle
Bottled mounting foam for insulation and sealing. Mounting foam is an alternative to pipe insulation bowls and is used, for example, between pipe and outer sleeve. Assembly foam is developed for joints of pre-insulated district heating pipes.
Mounting foam is also called shaking foam, as it is formed from isocyanate and polyol, which are mixed together and shaken. During the mixing, a chemical process starts (a foaming). Foaming is carried out on site at the pipe joints and after welding. Isocyanate and polyol are supplied in pairs in bottles or in bags in up to 21 different sizes.

Application
Bottled mounting foam for insulation and sealing. Bottled mounting foam (shaking foam) is a good choice for insulators as it is easy to handle and allows for rapid foaming. The bag contains two components – isocyanate and polyol – which are stored separately until they are mixed. When the separation is removed and the bag is thoroughly shaken, a chemical process starts that results in foaming. This foaming takes place directly on site, e.g. when joining pipes or after welding district heating pipes.
Bottled assembly foam is an effective alternative to molded pipe insulation cups and can be used in many different applications, especially for sealing between pipe and outer sleeve. This type of foam is ideal for joints of pre-insulated district heating pipes as it provides a tight and durable insulation. The product has been specially developed to ensure that the joints are properly insulated and protected against temperature changes and moisture. It is a practical and flexible solution that makes it possible to work efficiently and precisely, even in challenging conditions.
Safety measures when working with polyurethane
Working with ready-made foam does not require any special safety measures. However, this is not the case when working with polyurethane foam. Foaming polyurethane involves mixing the raw materials isocyanate and polyol to produce polyurethane foam. From 24 August 2023, appropriate training will be required before industrial or commercial use of products containing more than 0.1% by weight of isocyanates.
Training requirements and courses for safe working with isocyanates
Only persons who have undergone special training may work with polyurethane foaming. The education is offered by institutions for vocational education, such as AMU centers and technical schools. Employers or self-employed persons who use the products themselves or weld must also have undergone the training before starting work. Everyone who works with isocyanate must complete a two-day course.
In addition, all employees who work with isocyanates and have an increased risk of being exposed to the substance must complete a new AMU course on personal safety. The course lasts 1 day.
